Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Adelaide Hospital (Dublin) Gynaecology Department.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

121 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the complications at the gynaecology department of the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin 2, due to under-funding; the action, if any, he intends to take to address these problems; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10387/96]

Limerick East): I thank the Deputy for allowing me the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding the gynaecology department in the Adelaide Hospital.

The hospital authorities have assured me that the complications to which the Deputy is referring did not arise as the result of under-funding but were due to administrative difficulties beyond the hospital's control in arranging for the rescheduling of consultant sessions between the Adelaide and a number of other agencies.
This matter has now been resolved and the expectation is that the new consultant will take up his post at the hospital around July.
