Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Student Suspension.

Joe Costello

Ceist:

213 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a student (details supplied) in Dublin 10 has not attended school since 6 December 1995, due to suspension; if her attention has further been drawn to his parents concern regarding this prolonged period of suspension and the failure of her to provide alternative schooling; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10428/96]

I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers. I can assure the Deputy that I am most anxious that a suitable education service be made available to the child in question at the earliest possible date.

My Department's primary inspectorate is currently investigating this matter and I have asked that they expedite their inquiries with a view to meeting the educational needs of this child as a matter of urgency.
