Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Crowd Control Legislation.

Seán Haughey

Ceist:

229 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice if she will bring forward legislation to implement the recommendation of the Hamilton Committee report on public safety and crowd control in 1990, which stated that all major pop concerts in indoor venues should require a special individual licence from the District Court, irrespective of whether the premises has an annual licence from the courts, where the attendance will exceed 2,000 people; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10189/96]

I am considering the question of implementation of the recommendation referred to in the question in the context of a review which is under way in my Department of aspects of the Public Dancehalls Act, 1935 and related legislation and any proposals which emerge from this review will be announced in the usual way.
