Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection Scheme.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

319 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine the counties, if any, that have received allocations under the coastal protection scheme, 1994-1999; and the allocations that have been carried over in respect of this programme in 1996. [10203/96]

Since the commencement of the Operational Programme for Environmental Services in late 1994 to the end of 1995, some £840,000 has been invested in coastal protection schemes in the following counties: County Kerry, £246,666; County Wexford, £100,000; County Galway, £175,000; County Mayo, £84,000; County Meath, £105,000; County Dublin, £113,333; County Wicklow, £16,666.

Arising from the continuation of works commenced in County Dublin during 1995 there is a commitment to an additional expenditure of £116,000 during 1996. In addition, grant aid approval was given during 1995 for a relatively minor protection scheme in County Cork. This project commenced in early 1996 and will incur an expenditure of £26,235. Final decisions remain to be taken on the nature of additional new schemes to be aided this year.
