Vol. 465 No. 8

Written Answers. - TB and Brucellosis Testing.

James Leonard

Ceist:

36 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to introduce measures to control fees charged by vets in respect of TB and brucellosis testing. [10613/96]

Under the new arrangements for the disease eradication schemes which commenced on 1 April 1996, and which have been accepted by farming bodies and the Irish Veterinary Union, responsibility for arranging, negotiating terms and paying for certain tests has been assigned to farmers. Consequently, I do not propose to introduce measures to control the level of testing fees charged.
