Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gregory — the refusal of the Department of Education to sanction the commencement in 1996 of the extension to St. Paul's secondary school, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7 and the unacceptable conditions which pertain as a result; (2) Deputy Mary Wallace — the failure of the Department of Health to publish the report of the Review Group on Services for Persons with Physical and Sensory Disabilities; (3) Deputy Broughan — the need to re-examine the provision of resources for orthodontic dental care on the north side of Dublin; (4) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to ensure that sentencing policy is consistent in view of a recent case in which an individual convicted of stealing goods with a total value of £31 was sentenced to five years in prison; (5) Deputy Lynch — the effects on the work of FÁS community employment schemes of recent changes in the eligibility criteria for such schemes with particular reference to the many arts-based schemes currently in operation and the effects on the employment prospects of those working in the arts; (6) Deputy Nealon — the need to protect the rights of fishermen on Lough Arrow, County Sligo, in view of the difficulties being created as a result of the closure of a traditional access point for boats at Ballyrush Bridge; (7) Deputy Seán Ryan — the safety of plastic tanks for the storage of heating oil and the regulations, if any, for the installation of such tanks; (8) Deputy Hugh Byrne — the urgent need for proper veterinary inspections of meat in local authority areas in which the requirements of the Abattoirs Act, 1988, have not yet been implemented; (9) Deputy Noel Ahern — the dismissal from Kilmainham Jail museum of a guide information officer in contravention of an agreement made with the museum trustees by the Minister for Finance; (10) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the ongoing labour dispute regarding the AIBP plant at Ravensdale, Dundalk, County Louth; (11) Deputy Andrews — the urgent need to restore democracy to Myanmar, or Burma, and to avail of the Irish tenure of the EU Presidency to send a mission from member states to view the situation in that country at first hand; (12) Deputies O'Rourke and Geoghegan-Quinn — the urgent need to reconvene the Consumer Committee to consider the concern regarding baby foods; (13) Deputy Brendan Smith — the need to ensure the continuation of a transport service to a school (details supplied) in County Cavan.

The matters raised by Deputies Mary Wallace, Noel Ahern, Dermot Ahern, and O'Rourke and Geoghegan-Quinn have been selected for discussion.
