24 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the total number of full-time equivalent staff in each of Ireland's embassies and consulates; if he will give a breakdown of this number by gender, status and position; and his views on the adequacy or otherwise of gender balance in our foreign service. The total number of established civil servants in the Department of Foreign Affairs serving abroad at present is 242. This includes a number of officers from other Departments serving at Irish missions abroad on secondment to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
