Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gregory — The refusal of the Department of Education to sanction the commencement in 1996 of the extension to St. Paul's secondary school, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7, and the unacceptable conditions which pertain as a result; (2) Deputy F. Fitzgerald — The recent death of a young woman in Mountjoy Prison; (3) Deputy Broughan — The need to re-examine the provision of resources for orthodontic dental care on the north side of Dublin; (4) Deputy E. Byrne — The need to ensure that sentencing policy is consistent in view of a recent case in which an individual convicted of stealing goods with a total value of £31 was sentenced to five years in prison; (5) Deputy Lynch — The effects on the work of FÁS community employment schemes of recent changes in the eligibility criteria for such schemes with particular reference to the many arts-based schemes currently in operation and the effects on the employment prospects of those working in the arts; (6) Deputy Nealon — The need to protect the rights of fishermen on Lough Arrow, County Sligo, in view of the difficulties being created as a result of the closure of a traditional access point for boats at Ballyrush Bridge; (7) Deputy S. Ryan — The safety of plastic tanks for the storage of heating oil and the regulations, if any, for the installation of such tanks; (8) Deputy Briscoe — The need to establish a night court at a location in Dublin to deal with offences committed at night in order to deal expeditiously with minor offences which would otherwise give rise to congestion in the judicial process; (9) Deputy M. Kitt — The need to allow existing one teacher primary schools an extra teacher in view of the decision of the Minister for Education that no two teacher school which would have lost a teacher under the staffing schedule will now lose a teacher; (1) Deputy Harney — The need for Dáil Éireann to discuss the severance package and other terms affecting the workforce of Packard Electric in view of the fact that 58 of its employees were laid off on 5 June 1996 and that the remaining employees, will be laid off on a phased basis over the next few weeks: (11) Deputy O'Rourke — The need, in the interests of consumers, to request financial institutions to trawl dormant bank accounts and to send statements in relation to those accounts to the customers involved; (12) Deputy de Valera — The reasons for the ending of funding for the Irish Women's Archive and Resource Centre.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Rourke, Gregory, Harney and Nealon have been selected for discussion.
