Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - Drugs Misuse.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

113 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the current situation in Dublin compared to the remainder of the country in relation to drug abuse, drug pushing and drug related crime; the existing measures there are to deal with these issues; the additional measures, if any, she intends to introduce; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12031/96]

The problem of drug misuse is a national one, although it is, of course, particularly acute in certain parts of Dublin. The Deputy will be well aware of the measures that are being taken by me, as Minister for Justice, and other Ministers with responsibility in this area. These measures represent the most significant and radical response ever taken in the State to deal with the drugs problem.
