129 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a statement on the meeting between his Department and the Social Welfare Branch Managers' Association that was held on Monday 27 May 1996 to discuss the future of branch offices. [12167/96]

Officials from my Department met representatives of the Branch Managers' Association on 27 May 1996. The meeting involved a frank and productive exchange of views on both sides. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on the specifics of the meeting at this point.
