143 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason given by the Libyan authorities as to why his visa application has not been processed; if he will confirm that such a visa application was made on his behalf; if no visa application has been made, the reason given to him not to apply at this time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My visit to Libya has not taken place as the Libyan authorities have not put the necessary arrangements in place. In the context of the proposed visit an application for visas has been made. I am also seeking appropriate ministerial appointments in order to have substantive discussions on the lifting of the ban on live cattle and beef so that the optimum outcome can be obtained from the visit. I intend to proceed with this visit at the earliest possible date.
