Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - ESB Staffing.

Seamus Brennan

Ceist:

157 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the implementation cost incurred by the ESB during 1994: and the early or voluntary severance payments which occurred that year by way of lump sums, part pay, pension contributions, voluntary severance costs and any other costs. [12187/96]

I am advised by the ESB that the implementation cost for the CCR, in 1994, was £8.3 million in present value terms. This included all staff exit costs. This figure can be analysed as follows: lump sums, £1.1 million; part pay, £2.2 million; pension, £5.0 million; total, £8.3 million.

Ceist:

158 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the number of ESB employees who reached normal retirement age in each of the years 1994 and 1995; the functions of these employees; the number of employees who accepted early retirement or severance payments from the ESB in each of the years 1994 and 1995; and the functions of these employees. [12188/96]

The following is an analysis by functions, as provided by the ESB, of natural retirements and voluntary severance exits for the years 1994 and 1995.
