Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools' Staffing.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

105 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education with reference to the unaltered staffing schedule, the number of schools in the 1995-96 and 1996-97 schools years that will change from being three teacher schools to two teacher schools, four teacher schools to three teacher schools, five teacher schools to four teacher schools, six teacher schools to five teacher schools, seven teacher schools to six teacher schools, eight teacher schools to seven teacher schools, nine teacher schools to eight teacher schools, ten teacher schools to nine teacher schools, 11 teacher schools to ten teacher schools, 12 teacher schools to 11 teacher schools, 13 teacher schools to 12 teacher schools, 14 teacher schools to 13 teacher schools and 15 teacher schools to 14 teacher schools. [12110/96]

The information requested by the Deputy is currently being extracted from records within my Department.

I will arrange to have the information forwarded as soon as it is available.

Declan Bree

Ceist:

106 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Education if she will review her Department's 1995 decision to suppress a teaching post in a national school (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of her recent announcement that no posts will be suppressed in two teacher schools in the 1996-97 school year; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12138/96]

I recently announced that existing two teacher schools, which, as a result of the staffing schedule, were due to lose a post at the end of the current school year and thus become one teacher schools, will in fact continue as two teacher units for the 1996-97 school year.

The school to which the Deputy refers is currently a one teacher school. It does not therefore fall within the scope of my recent announcement.
