132 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the location and services offered by each speech therapist in County Meath. [12521/96]
136 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the average number of sessions received by each person in County Meath who receives the service of a speech therapist. [12525/96]
Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 132 and 136 together. Speech and language therapy services in County Meath are provided under the community care programme within the North-Eastern Health Board. Services are provided in a number of settings, that is health centres, schools-units and hospitals. Therapists work with varied caseloads including preschool mental handicap, speech and language disorder, physical handicap and adults.
Clients-patients attend for an initial assessment appointment. At this appointment a decision is made on the necessity for therapy. Depending on the presenting problem, severity and other factors a client is offered regular weekly or fortnightly therapy. In some cases a review schedule may be appropriate, for example monthly or every three to six months. It is not possible, to provide figures for the average number of sessions received by each person. However, in 1995 there were 2,794 child attendances and 371 adult attendances. Details of the location services are set out in the tables under:
