Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - Division of Grant to County Louth.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

114 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the way in which the £610,000 allocation to County Louth is divided between the special grants announced by him recently to aid urban and rural regeneration projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13040/96]

County Council led task forces have been established in each of the six Border counties for the purposes of measures 1 (a) and 1 (b) of subprogramme 2 (c) of the special support programme for peace and reconciliation. The identification and approval of the individual urban and rural regeneration projects to be funded under these measures is a matter for the task forces, subject to satisfying the relevant national authority that the project comes within the terms of the relevant measure, is consistent with national policy for the sector concerned and will not duplicate projects which the national authorities themselves may be carrying out.

Depending on the nature of the project, the relevant national authorities are the Departments of the Environment, Tourism and Trade, Transport, Energy and Communications and Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
