Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Meath Schools.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

123 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education when she intends to approve the tenders for Longwood vocational school, County Meath in respect of the provision of two classrooms and a toilet block; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13003/96]

The post primary building unit of my Department is currently awaiting the submission of a site location map and tender documentation from County Meath Vocational Education Committee in respect of additional pre-fabricated accommodation in Longwood vocational school, County Meath. When the required documentation has been submitted for examination, and subject to the documentation being in order, approval to obtain tenders for the project will be given.

Ceist:

124 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education whether her Department intends to further delay the provision of a new school at Trim, County Meath. [13004/96]

A potential site for the new community school in Trim has been examined for its suitability by the technical staff of the building unit. The Department now wish to examine in greater detail the development of the site in question. A feasibility study will be commissioned shortly to report on the most economic way of utilising the site and property as a community school.

I wish to assure the Deputy that this feasibility study will not in any way delay the provision of the new school, as it would have been required in any event as the first stage of planning for the new accommodation. When this study has been completed and the findings examined in full by my Department's building unit, the matter will be progressed further.
