Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - Land Registration Dealing.

Tom Moffatt

Ceist:

144 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Justice if she will have arrangements made to expedite a land registration dealing in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [13025/96]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this registration refers to an application under section 49 — the acquisition of title by virtue of long possession — of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was originally lodged in the Land Registry on 27 October, 1995.

I am further informed that dealing Nos. 95SMO7221 and 95SMO7222 were rejected by the Land Registry and returned to the applicants solicitor on 28 November 1995. The application was relodged on 28 February 1996 under dealing Nos. 96SMO1334 and 96SMO1335.
I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time. However, I can confirm that the matter is being expedited by the Land Registry.

Ceist:

145 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for Justice if she will expedite the payment of moneys to the relatives of a deceased person (details supplied) in County Mayo who was a ward of court at the time of her death. [13026/96]

In accordance with paragraph 16 (1) of the Eighth Schedule to the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961, all matters relating to wards of court as provided for in section 9 (1) of the 1961 Act are vested in the President of the High Court and I have no function in the matter. Any further inquiries in the matter should be directed to the Registrar of Wards of Court.
