Ceist:36 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the reason six weeks elapsed before the Garda report was furnished in respect of the Anthony Duncan extradition error of 13 April 1996. [11075/96]
Written Answers. - Extradition Error.
I refer the Deputy to the statement made by the Minister for Justice to the House on 23 May wherein she stated that the delay in establishing the facts reflected the necessity to liaise with all the agencies involved in the proceedings in both jurisdictions to establish the full facts. I also refer the Deputy to the press statement issued by the Garda authorities on 22 May which states that the delay in finalising the investigation was due primarily to the unavailability of key personnel, including personnel in the UK who were involved in the case.
