55 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice whether an initial response was delivered or communicated from the Garda authorities to her Department on Monday, 15 April 1996 in connection with the failed Anthony Duncan extradition case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11827/96]
No such response was received by the Department of Justice in regard to this matter.
I direct the Deputy's attention to three separate press statements which were issued on behalf of the Garda authorities, the Minister for Justice and the Department of Justice on 26, 27 and 28 May respectively. All these statements deny any suggestion that the factual position in relation to the missing warrant had been established and was conveyed to my Department prior to 21 May.
