201 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of funding to a national school (details supplied) in county Cork to replace an existing pre-fab classroom; and if she will give details of the contents of the report made to her by her technical staff. My Department sanctioned grant-aid on 28 November 1995 towards the cost of various refurbishment works at the school referred to by the Deputy. The work was to include replacing pre-fab panels and windows. The school management subsequently applied for a permanent extension which would incorporate a general purpose room. While my Department's technical advisers consider replacement of the pre-fab desirable, a permanent extension on the lines envisaged can be provided only in the context of a future capital building programme.
