Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sheep Headage Grants.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

284 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total number of sheep farmers in County Mayo; the percentage who receive headage and premium payments for flocks of sizes less than 100 sheep, 100 to 500 sheep, 500 to 1,000 sheep, 1,000 to 2,000 sheep, 2,000 to 5,000 sheep and over 5,000 sheep; the percentage of the total sheep headage and premium payments to farmers in respect of each of the above categories; and the changes in the percentage of farmers in respect of each of these categories since 1988. [13176/96]

Statistics in the format requested are not available at present and cannot be supplied in the time provided. However, I have arranged, that as soon as the relevant information becomes available, it will be sent to the Deputy without delay.

It should be noted that information in respect of 1988 may not be available but a comparison between 1995 and the earliest available year will be given.
