Ceist:

125 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the total value of EU grant aid received by his Department during 1995; if he will give a breakdown of this figure by scheme; the total value of grants bestowed by his Department during 1995; the recipient of each such grant valued at £100,000 or greater; and the amount of each grant that is covered by an EU fund. Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Mr. M. Higgins)

My Department paid out a total of £2,223,260 in respect of EU grant-aided schemes in 1995. Included in this figure is a sum of £1,667,445 funded from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The breakdown of these payments is as follows:

The Deputy should note that the table does not include projects in the national cultural institutions (e.g. the Chester Beatty Library) which are partfinanced from EU Structural Funds but are dealt with through the Vote of the Office of Public Works. In addition, the table does not include payments of EU funds made in 1995 by the various divisions of the heritage service of the Office of Public Works as the transfer of those divisions to my Department only took place in the current year.
