150 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for the Environment the number of new agricultural tractors and general haulage tractors first registered in each county during the period 1 January 1996, to 31 May 1996, and in respect of each of the year from 1993 to 1955, on the basis of the daily figures supplied to his Department by the Revenue Commissioners; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Revenue Commissioners supply to my Department on a daily basis computer-based information in relation to all vehicles registered by them nationally. This information is supplied to ensure that any vehicle being licensed for the first time has already been registered and to enable data already available to the Revenue Commissioners in relation to registered vehicles — e.g. chassis numbers etc. — to be transferred to my Department's computerised records of licensed vehicles (the National Vehicle File). These records do not permit the abstraction of data on the number of vehicles of particular classes registered for any particular area or monthly period. Information on the numbers of vehicles in various taxation classes first licensed in each month and in each year is produced on a monthly and annual basis by the Central Statistics Office, on the basis of data supplied by my Department, and is issued by the Government Information Service as a statistical release.
