247 Mr. Foley asked the Minister for Education if she will give approval to a submission received from County Kerry vocational education committee in respect of minor capital works and equipment in County Kerry vocational education committee post primary schools in 1996. [14472/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach)

The position is that the works in question are of a minor routine maintenance nature and are therefore the ultimate responsibility of the County Kerry vocational education committee. In these circumstances my Department cannot accede to a request for funding under the post-primary capital grants scheme.
