366 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether he has received legal advice recommending an appeal of the decision of the EU Commission on the fine in respect of the irregularities in the beef industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14086/96]
I have recently received legal advice regarding a possible appeal to the European Court of Justice on the decision of the European Commission referred to by the Deputy. This advice is being considered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and by the Government. A final decision on the matter will be made later this week.
