Written Answers. - Civil Service Requirements.

Joe Walsh

Ceist:

424 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications whether all staff in his Department, established and unestablished, are required to sign the acknowledgement, noting its contents, to Circular 15/79, Official Secrecy and Integrity, the Government Procedures Instructions, 1983, as amended, and the terms of the Data Protection Act, 1988; and the action, if any, that has been taken by him under the terms of the disciplinary code since his appointment. [14257/96]

All staff in my Department, whether established or unestablished, are required to sign, having noted its contents, the acknowledgement to Circular 15/79 relating to official secrecy and integrity.

Government procedures instructions with amendments are circulated to all staff periodically.

On an annual basis all staff in my Department are required to sign an acknowledgement that they have noted and understood their obligations under the Data Protection Act, 1988.
Since my appointment no action has been taken under the terms of the disciplinary code.
