The European Regional Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF) are administered by my Department and EU receipts received in my Department in 1995 under these funds amounted to £358.1 millions and £102 million respectively.
ERDF aided development is implemented through a series of economic sectoral operational programmes whereas the Cohesion Fund is project based. Details of the programmes and projects in respect of which the above European Regional Development Fund and CF aid was received from the EU and the corresponding receipts, are outlined in the following annexes 1 and 2.
ERDF and Cohesion Fund aid in respect of developments co-financed by Central Government accrues to the Central Fund as an Exchequer receipt which then helps to finance the Public Capital Programme. Where EU receipts are not associated with central Government expenditure, they are generally disbursed on the instructions of the appropriate parent Government Department. My Department does not operate any grant schemes.
