Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - DPMA Scheme.

Mary Harney

Ceist:

67 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Health the number of persons in receipt of a disabled person's maintenance allowance on a county by county basis who had their allowance discontinued due to the fact that they spent more than eight weeks in hospitals in the last calendar year for which figures are available. [13944/96]

Limerick East): The information requested is not readily available. The collection of the information would require examination of individual disabled person's maintenance allowance files. As the Deputy is aware the disabled person's maintenance allowance scheme is transferring to the Department of Social Welfare and will be fully computerised. This may facilitate the production of the information requested by the Deputy in the future. Accordingly, I will refer the matter to my colleague, the Minister for Social Welfare.
