232 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for the Marine whether he has breached the Government's commitment to a 40 per cent gender balance on all State boards with his recent appointments to Bord Iascaigh Mhara in view of the fact that the board of six members has one woman and the Marine Institute, a board of nine members has two women; and the action, if any, he proposes to take in the foreseeable future to remedy this situation. I take full account of Government guidelines on gender balance when considering appointments to the boards under my aegis and I will continue to do so. The most recent appointees to the board of BIM and to the board of the Marine Institute were made having regard to all the circumstances including the gender balance objective.
