442 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in providing funds for the construction of a new school building to a school (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that tenders for the project were submitted in January 1996; and when her Department will permit work to commence. My Department was not consulted prior to the invitation of tenders for the building project at the school referred to by the Deputy. Having examined the development plans in detail, my Department has advised the school's design team of the need to make changes to the electrical services installation. Due to financial constraints, I am not in a position to allow the project to proceed to contract at present or to indicate when it might proceed.
