Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the school bus system is most unsatisfactory, namely due to constant breakdowns leading to pupils being late for school, children standing in the rain at pick-up points while waiting on such a bus, buses not turning up for transport at all, over loading of buses with many pupils standing in the aisle, the first pick-up in the morning being at 6.55 am and being left home at 5.05 pm and the wait outside school gates due to an insufficient number of buses; the way in which she proposes to deal with the matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
