947 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Defence if he will reconsider his decision not to strike a medal for long service for members of the Civil Defence in view of the fact that these types of awards are available in other voluntary services, such as the fire service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I confirm there has been no change in the decision taken earlier this year to provide a long service medal for members of the Civil Defence. I expect the first awards will be made later in 1996.
