Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Stamp Duty Application.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

84 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he will further examine an application for a reduced rate of stamp duty in respect of a farm transfer (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that the documentation sought from the applicant's solicitors has been lodged with his Department. Ceist:

88 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when an application for a reduced rate of stamp duty on agricultural land will be decided in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will agree to grant the concession; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15322/96]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 84 and 88 together.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the information supplied to them, the applicant does not qualify as a "young trained farmer" and is not entitled to the reduced rate of stamp duty. The solicitors acting in this case were notified of the position on 19 July.
