Treacy asked the Minister for Finance the reason a report (details supplied) has not been published; the date on which it will be published; if the report will be made available to the Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas; if so, when; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I presume the report to which the Deputy refers is the second interim report of the South Galway Flooding Study Consultants.
I am advised that the Commissioners of Public Works expect to receive a report from the consultants in August. It is intended to arrange a public meeting in Gort in September at which the consultants will outline progress with the study to date and interested parties will have an opportunity to address the consultants.
It is not intended to formally publish the interim report. The first interim report was made available to the South Galway Flooded Victims Action Group and the South Galway IFA. While I cannot give a firm commitment in advance of seeing the report, it is my intention to proceed in a similar fashion on this occasion. I would be happy to provide copies of material given to these organisations to Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas representing the area.
