Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) Break-ins.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

472 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the ever increasing house burglaries and break-ins in the outlying areas around Dundalk, County Louth; if she intends to instruct the Garda to review the role of outlying Garda stations in the area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16227/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that there was a series of burglaries in the Blackrock area during July and August although there has not been any increase in the overall number of burglaries compared with recent years. The Garda have identified a number of persons responsible for some of these burglaries and investigations are continuing in the other cases. The Garda authorities are satisfied that the local Garda response to this activity has been saisfactory and the question of organisational changes does not arise.
