165 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons employed by her on a full-time, part-time and contract basis for the duration of the Irish Presidency of the EU; the total costs involved in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17228/96]
The EU Presidency work in my Department is being undertaken by full-time civil servants. Thirteen staff of my Department are wholly engaged in EU Presidency duties and a number of other staff are engaged on a part-time basis on EU Presidency duties in addition to their usual duties. The approved staffing for my Department has been temporarily increased by 13 to facilitate the work of the EU Presidency and the estimated additional cost in respect of salaries and overtime is £600,000.
