I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information requested by the Deputy is compiled on a Garda divisional basis only and is set out in the following tabular statement.
I wish to inform the Deputy that these figures relate to juveniles who have been referred under the juvenile liaison scheme. The Garda practice in respect of underage drinking involves referral to a Garda juvenile liaison officer rather than prosecution through the courts.
