Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Driving Licence Regulations.

Seamus Kirk

Ceist:

85 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will examine the regulations covering the issue of new car driving licences to applicants who previously had full licences but not in any period during the previous ten years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17242/96]

The Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993 extended from five to ten years the period during which a person who had previously held a full driving licence continued to be eligible to renew that licence without passing a further test. I have no proposals for any further change in the position.
