Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction a project (details supplied) in County Galway; if his attention has been drawn to the gravity of the situation; if he will meet with the local group to discuss this matter; the date on which sanction will be given; the amount of money being allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Last July the group submitted an outline proposal to link the Lawerencetown/Eyrecourt scheme with the newly completed Clontuskert scheme which, in turn, is supplied from the Ballinasloe public water supply. The proposal is being examined in my Department and the group will be written to shortly on the matter. I am aware of the importance of the scheme and I will consider its funding in the context of the finances available for group schemes in 1997.
