36 Mr. M. Brennan asked the Minister for Education the number of third-level institutions which have leisure and sports facilities, such as a gymnasium, indoor sports complex and playing pitches; and her views on the need to provide such facilities in all third level colleges. [18085/96]
Seventeen third level institutions — that is institutions in the regional technical college — DIT and higher education sectors — have varying levels of leisure and sports facilities such as gymnasia, indoor sports complexes and playing fields. While I recognise the need to provide sports and leisure facilities in all third level colleges, the funding available for such developments has to be considered in the light of the many demands on available capital resources.
