Vol. 470 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin District Court Accommodation.

Tom Kitt

Ceist:

66 Mr. T. Kitt asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to provide adequate District Court accommodation in Dublin. [18435/96]

Part of the former Richmond Hospital is being leased to provide five additional courtrooms and ancillary court facilities. I understand that a contract for the refubishment will be placed shortly by the Office of Public Works and that work on site is scheduled to commence shortly thereafter.

In the longer term, my Department is looking at all of the accommodation in the Fourt Courts complex including that occupied at present by the Land Registry, which it is planned will be reaccommodated in a new building with a view to matching the requirements of the courts for courtroom and office accommodation with the total space available in the Four Courts.
