Vol. 470 No. 2

Written Answers. - EU Presidency.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

146 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons employed by him to deal with press-related matters during the course of Ireland's Presidency of the EU; the total costs associated with such appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18831/96]

Press-related matters arising from Ireland's Presidency of the European Union, in so far as my Department is concerned, are dealt with by the existing staff (three) in my Department's Press Office. No additional appointments were made by me in that regard and, consequently, the question of additional costs does not arise.
