158 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for the Environment if he will introduce a scheme of grants to assist persons residing in remote rural areas to bore a well in order to provide a private water supply to service homes where bathrooms and toilets are required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Grants are available under the group water scheme programme to assist with the provision of water supplies to groups of houses in rural areas. There are no proposals for similar grants in the case of individual houses.
