Vol. 470 No. 4
176 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if she will make a sports grant available for Ballincollig community college, County Cork. [19142/96]
A grant of £100,000 has recently been allocated to Ballincollig community college, County Cork, under my Department's major facilities scheme towards the cost of constructing an astro-turf pitch in conjunction with a local hockey club.
My Department will shortly be writing to the school authorities outlining the terms and conditions of scheme which will have to be met before the grant can be formally approved and payment made.
177 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education if she intends to approve a grant for roof repairs for a school (details supplied) in Cork; and if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the roof is currently in a critical condition. [19146/96]
An application for grant-aid for roofworks at the school referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department in May of this year. My Department was not in a position to approve the application at the time. The school manager has been in touch with my officials within the last week with new information and the case is now being re-examined. My Department will be in touch with the school in the matter very shortly.
