Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Angling Trade Shows.

John Ellis

Ceist:

338 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Marine the number of representatives or employees of his Department or regional fisheries boards who have attended angling trade shows, angling fairs or shows abroad in each of the years from 1990 to 1995; the cost of each person attending such shows; and the reason for such attendance. [19369/96]

According to all available information officials of my Department have not attended angling trade shows, angling fairs or shows abroad in the period mentioned. The Central and Regional Fisheries Boards have statutory responsibility for the promotion of angling and officers of the boards would, as part of their official duties, attend trade shows abroad from time to time. I have no function in relation to such attendances, however, and my Department does not maintain details of attendance and associated costs. I will ask the Central Fisheries Board to assist the Deputy with the information sought.
