Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need for permanent premises to be made available to Crumlin multi-denominational school; (2) Deputy Molloy — the viability of the underground proposal for the sewage treatment plant at Mutton Island, County Galway, in view of the estimated cost of this option; (3) Deputy Lynch — the urgent need to review the poundage system of remunerating sheriffs; (4) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the need to review the voluntary early retirement scheme in view of the fact that incorrect information may have been given to members of the Defence Forces who applied for the scheme in August 1996; (5) Deputy Lawlor — the level of support which the Government will provide to assist with the provision of the requisite facilities to facilitate the availability in Dublin of first class premiership soccer and to enable Ireland to secure major international soccer events; (6) Deputy Noel Ahern — the rent allowances being given to drug pushers evicted from or forced out of their local authority housing; (7) Deputy Geoghegan-Quinn — the need for an immediate investigation into the authorisation of the legal strategy for the State and State agencies in the hepatitis C court cases following the latest revelation that an attempt was made to get the McCole family to waive their right of legal action; (8) Deputy Tom Kitt — subsidisation by the Government of Irish Ferries; (9) Deputy Hughes — the need for the Minister for Education to sanction proposals submitted to the Department by the Newport and District Development Company Limited, County Mayo, to enable the provision of a vocational education committee/ outreach community based school in Newport; (10) Deputy Michael Kitt — the situation of over 200,000 Hutu refugees in eastern Zaire who have left their camps around Uvira near the border with Burundi and the fears of a new humanitarian disaster; (11) Deputy McDaid — the current situation relating to the water supply at Churchill, County Donegal, in view of the fact that many families in this area do not have a water supply; (12) Deputy O'Rourke — the current situation regarding the Semperit Plant.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Kitt, Molloy, Lawlor and Batt O'Keeffe have been selected for discussion.
