Vol. 470 No. 7

Written Answers. - Medical Provision for Army Families.

Seán Power

Ceist:

268 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Defence whether the practice of treating the families and spouses of Defence Forces members at the general medical hospital in the Curragh Camp will continue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19891/96]

I have directed that the out-patient facility at the Curragh Hospital should continue to be available to the dependants of members of the Defence Forces living in the Curragh area until the implications of changing the current arrangements can be fully examined. The issue has been raised with PDFORRA which has indicated that the association is examining the feasibility of introducing a medical aid insurance scheme designed to cater for its members and their families.
