22 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine the total cost of non-civil or public service staff attached to his office in 1995; the anticipated costs in 1996; and if he will give the comparative figures for each of the years 1987 and 1988. [19924/96]
The costs involved for the staff referred to are as follows:- 1987, £5,783; 1988, £7,697; 1995, £52,463; 1996, £58,199.
In relation to the costs shown for 1995 and 1996, it should be noted that the salary costs included represent 50 per cent of the total cost as these are shared equally with the Department of Defence, reflecting my dual ministerial responsibilities.
