227 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give the precise make-up of the United States of America consortium and investors who have taken a lease from the ESB on Moneypoint power station, County Clare; and the Irish advisers, participants, investors or consultants who are involved in this respect. There are three investors participating in this lease transaction. These are US companies ultimately owned by the First Union Corporation which heads one of the largest bank groups in the US.
A number of reputable Irish firms have been appointed to provide tax, accounting and legal advice. The companies are acting in a purely consultancy/advisory capacity to the ESB, and their appointment is a day-to-day matter for the ESB and one in which I have no function.
