Vol. 471 No. 3

Written Answers. - Parking of Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Chris Flood

Ceist:

57 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice the progress, if any, which has been made in the matter of the making and implementation of the draft temporary rules governing the parking of heavy goods vehicles in residential areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20739/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that as a result of the decision of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council not to provide a list of alternative sites for the parking of large vehicles, the Garda sought the advice of the Attorney General to progress the matter. To date, all other local authorities within the Dublin area have provided lists of such sites.

The Garda authorities have received the advice of the Attorney General and on his advice have written to the Department of the Environment with a view to redrafting the rules taking into account the decision of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
